SEC Dominates the 2010 Draft: 1/22/10

Each year, every NFL draft has one NCAA football conference that produces an abundance of high draft picks. This
year in particular, the South Eastern Conference (SEC) will introduce some of the more productive and NFL ready
prospects in recent years. Here are some of the more noteworthy and popular draft prospects expected to be drafted
(and drafted high!).

Keep in mind this list does NOT contain all the 2010 draft prospects coming out the SEC. These players however, are
some of the more high profile talents. Nearly 24 of the 29 listed could be drafted in the first three rounds (top 96).
That represents nearly 25% of the first three rounds.

Another key trend which not only defines the SEC but is worth a look, is that all projected first round picks are
defensive players: Brandon Spikes, Rolando McClain, Eric Berry, Dan Williams, Terence Cody, Carlos Dunlap, Greg
Hardy, and Joe Haden are all defensive players. Additionally, 18 of the 29 players analyzed play defense. The SEC is
often characterized by strong, tough defenses and this impressive showing in the draft helps solidify that claim.

The SEC conference has always produced high-profile, successful NFL talent. This year in particular, the SEC will
continue that trend and deliver one of the most talented draft classes in recent years. In 6-7 years, we will look back
at the 2010 draft and realize how dominant this draft class actually was.
